Borrowing

All you need to know about library membership, borrowing and loans

The easiest way to borrow or return items is to use the self-service machines on the library concourse. Click here to learn how use them.

Non-book items like resource packs, big books, DVDs, and puppet bags can only be borrowed and returned at the main Service Desk by a member of staff.

You will need your library card (your BGU ID card) to borrow items, but you don't need it to return them.

If the Library is closed, or you are just passing by, you can return loans by placing them in the drop box outside the Library (built into the wall under the covered walkway). The library team will then check them in on your behalf. During term-time the drop-box is last emptied before the Library's Service Desk closes for the day (just before 7pm Mondays to Thursdays, and just before 5pm on Fridays and at weekends).  If you place an item in the box after this time it will be checked in the following day.

You can also return loans by post, at your own expense, but you are advised to get proof of postage and they must arrive with us on or before the due date.

If you are unable to return loans due to illness or extenuating circumstances please ask your tutor to contact us to confirm your absence.
