Students with Additional Needs

Library services and facilities for students with SENs.

We actively work with the University's student-led Autism Resources and Community Hub (ARCH) to make the Library as welcoming as possible to learners with autism:

  • We provide a dedicated study space for ARCH members, from 5pm on Fridays through to closing time on Sunday nights.
  • We installed ambient lighting in our Rest Room (one of the University's Quiet Spaces).
  • We conducted a walk-through of the Library with a representative of ARCH to ensure the group is aware of all study areas with dimmable lighting, and the areas of the Library likely to be the quietest.
  • We have published an autism awareness reading list.

We continue to work with the group to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
