Copyright for BGU Staff

A basic introduction to copyright for BGU staff

Copyrighted works may only be uploaded to Blackboard if at least one of the following applies:

  • You or the University holds the copyright.
  • You have explicit, written permission from the rights holder, in which case you must make this clear wherever you re-use the work, e.g. "PowerPoint presentation reproduced by permission of the author".
  • The work has been published under a licence, such as a Creative Commons licence, which permits re-use, in which case you must provide a link to the licence.

CLA scans are normally uploaded - on your behalf by the Library team - to My Reading and not to Blackboard. If you have any questions about this please contact the Library team.

Top tip: If you wish to point students to a journal article or ebook that the Library already provides access to, the easiest way is to copy the permalink from the item's WorldCat record and paste it into Blackboard.
