Research and the Library

A guide for postgraduate researchers

How do I deposit my article or chapter in LBRO?

Lincoln Bishop Research Online (LBRO) is the University's research repository. Authors use LBRO to record and deposit their research outputs, making them available to the public and ensuring eligibility for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

It is the responsibility of authors to create LBRO records for each research output. To be eligible for the REF, conference proceedings with an ISSN and journal articles must be deposited in LBRO within 3 months of acceptance. Authors must also inform the LBRO Administrator when items are published and this must be no later than 3 weeks after the publication date. In most cases, the version deposited in LBRO should be the author-accepted manuscript* (AAM).

Upon deposit, the LBRO Administrator will perform compliance and publisher policy checks, contact you with any queries, and and inform you when the item is live in the Repository.

All documentation relating to LBRO (glossary, user instructions etc.) can be found on SharePoint.

The majority of records in LBRO relate to journal articles, books and book chapters, where at least one author is currently employed at Lincoln Bishop University on a 0.2 FTE contract or above.  All records are made up of basic metadata (e.g. bibliographic information).  Full-text manuscripts must accompany metadata for items with an ISSN; the deposit of full-text manuscripts for book chapters is also strongly encouraged, though this can depend on individual publisher policy.

Questions relating to LBRO should be directed to libraryhelp@bishopg.ac.uk.

*The final version of an output as accepted by the publisher. Post peer-review, but before any formatting has been applied by the publisher. Usually just a Word document.
