All About WorldCat: Signing In

An overview of our online catalogue and search tool.

Use WorldCat to sign into your library account, to access online subscription resources like ebooks and journal articles, and to create and access saved lists in WorldCat.  The information below explains how to do each of these things.

Your Library Account

A Sign In button is present on the WorldCat homepage. Use it to login to your library account to check what you have on loan and when they are due back, to renew items, to view the status of holds and to check if you have any fines or charges.  You will also need to be signed in to create and save lists of WorldCat resources.

If you are a BGU student your username is your BGU email address and your password is the same one you use for email and the Portal.

If you are a BGU staff member or an external library member your username is the barcode number from your ID / library card.  You will need to set your own password the first time you login using the set/reset password button: there is a sheet below containing step-by-step instructions.

Buttons like the ones above appear when a full text resource like an ebook or journal article is available to open and view directly from WorldCat.

If you are on campus: ebooks should automatically open.  Journal articles may open directly, or may take you to landing page or a publisher's website to open the article from there.  If this happens look for pdf links or links that say 'open now'  or similar.

If you are off campus: you should be prompted to login with your BGU username and password (the ones you use for Blackboard) before the resource will open.
